More Basic Than Intermediate. Good for Non-native English Speakers

I was hoping that this book would be a good refresher of the grammar rules we learned (or were supposed to have learned) in grade school. I was expecting for a solid review of parts of speech, punctuation rules, grammar rules, and for information like when to use neither/nor, when to use affect vs. effect, proper rules for commas, colons, and semi-colons. I consider the examples I just mentioned to be intermediate; not the foundation of basic English, but a step up for some of the more subtle rules. I found the workbook to be pretty basic...unless English is your second language. I found that most lessons were related to verb tenses - past, present, future, etc. I took the tests at the end of each chapter at the very beginning to see how much I already knew. I aced it, only missing an occasional rule exception. This book appears to be a great resource for someone needing help with verb-tenses, and especially helpful if English is not your native language. If you have a fairly good understanding of high-school or college level English and need the next step up, this book is likely too basic for you.
