Brought to you by esteemed authors from the University of Iowa’s Musculoskeletal Radiology department, Pearls and Pitfalls in Musculoskeletal Imaging: Variants and Other Difficult Diagnoses, is a worthy addition to your imaging library. Bang for your buck, you can’t beat it.
Section authors D. Lee Bennett (Elbow, Forearm, Hand, Hip and Pelvis, Thigh, and Foot), Georges Y. El-Khoury (Tumors/Miscellaneous), Kenjirou Ohashi (Arm, Leg, and Ankle), and Joong Mo Ahn (Shoulder and Wrist), cover a wider range of topics and diagnoses with which residents should familiarize themselves and should be well familiar to musculoskeletal and general radiologists alike.
A wide breadth of knowledge is covered in this concise readable book of 254 pages. Traps such as pseudotear of the triangular fibrocartilage, ulnar collateral ligament tear versus normal recess of the elbow, and red marrow versus tumor are clearly addressed, as are topics such as malignant and benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors, snapping hip, Mazabraud syndrome, ankle impingement, supracondylar process: ligament of Struthers, and numerous other topics.

As I wrap up fellowship and look back at the year -- this book was very high yield and was a key tool in my development into an MSK radiologist. The content within includes material I will see every day in my practice as opposed to other texts which are filled with esoteric minutiae that I would be lucky to see once in my career.
